Entering the last weekend of the wrestling season, four Pioneers were in pursuit of finishing out their already successful season on top of the Oklahoma State Championship podium. Three Pioneers are one step away from taking home the gold, as Ky Corley (125), Chris Perry (171), and Walker Clarke (189) each collected two wins in the first day of competition at the State Tournament to advance into the State Championship Finals.

The fourth Pioneer at the State Tournament was Austin Standage (140) who qualified for the State Tournament in his Junior year of competition. Standage finished off a very successful season with a 23-12 record and tournament placings at Ark City (3rd), Jenks (3rd), Big 4+4 (3rd), and the Class 5A East Regionals (3rd). Standage will be one of only five State Qualifiers at 140lbs. to return next year.

During the first day of competition, Corley used a 7-2 decision win and a major decision win over Brandon Grooms of Muskogee in the Semi-finals to reach his first State Championship match. Perry and Clarke made it through the first day of competition with Perry collecting two tech. fall wins to advance to his second State Championship, while Clarke used a tech. fall and decision win to advance to his fourth State Championship match!!! Clarke will look to become only the second Pioneer to collect three State Championships and is only the second Stillwater Pioneer to make it to State Championship match four times.

Looking forward to the finals, Corley (28-2) will have a re-match of the Class 5A East Regional Championship with Drew Partain (25-6) of Broken Arrow. Perry and Clarke will face off against their opponents for the first time, with Perry (23-0) facing off against Derek Peperas (8-0) of Midwest City and Clarke (23-1) matching up with Bill Deal (30-5) of Norman North.
