Parents, Boosters, Supporters,
The Pioneer wrestlers rolled on, on Thursday evening, with both High School and Junior high wins, over the Enid Plainsmen. The Junior High team used some timely bonus points, in the middle of their line up, to build a lead. That lead was challenged late, but the come back attempt was cut short, when Freshman Heavyweight Hunter Black pinned his opponent, giving the Pioneers a 41-30 win.
In the High School competition, the Pioneers kept their momentum, from the win earlier in the week, to put a 61-10 beating on the visitors. The kids held back a competitive effort, from an Enid team that didn’t have any plans on being the Pioneers’ next victory. Andrew Nieman, Jacob Fontanez, Kaid Brock, Chandler Rogers, Jordan Dieringer, and James Brower all won by fall. Joe Smith, Chase Lane, and Tristan Moran also had big wins. Pete Pickens, CJ Citizen, and Cyntrell Carden lost, in tough matches, in which they all showed some positive gains.
Cyntrell Carden has lost the last his last two matches by a grand total of two points, against two of the top 220 pound wrestlers in the State. Cyntrell has improved a great deal and continues to work hard and learn. If he continues at the rate that he is, he will be a force to recon with in the near future. We are very proud of his efforts!
The Pioneers will face a tough road test, on Tuesday, when they travel to Cushing, for a dual against a highly ranked Class 4A team. We hope that many of you can make the trip, and be there to support the boys. The home crowds have been great, and it would be great to see you all in the Cushing gym, for the battle for the “braggin’ rights” of Payne County!
